The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was a friend of Heinrich Himmler and helped create an SS unit of Yugoslavs, mainly Muslim, called the Handschar. There is a telegram from Himmler to the Grand Mufti expressing thanks for his role in the struggle against World Jewry.
