Sadly, as I read your sentence “..and we are sheltered by nature as we go” my first thought was “until we destroy it”. But, you are correct - it is a calming image and I do find solace, peace and strength when in nature.
A calming thought … perhaps …. quoting climate scientist, Katherine Hayhoe, in ALL WE CAN SAVE: Truth, Courage, and Solutions for the Climate Crisis ….”the planet itself will survive …. the question is what will happen to the rest of us who live here?”
I’ve often thought that. The planet will still be here albeit human damaged but we most likely won’t and we will have brought about our own destruction due to greed, ego and apathy.
