Hi, we're a trio of High School researchers anxious to discover why Caswallon Scott Barrios of the Valley hasn't been arrested yet. TO WIT, how could he have gotten away, sgot-free, with organizing a team of Russian psychics (operating out of a Murmansk warehouse) to employ *warped mind energy* against our FRIEND Isobel Mlinaric? She had no intention of ever going to prom with David Wright, yet did so *anyway* against all logic and geometry. Here are the facts (ask him about them): Mr Barrios (aka Riker Scott Barber) has been visited by the FBI for harassing the owners of a dive bar in Muskegon. He is also a lower middle class person (hence the Resentment) whose REAL dad is a crooked stained glass salesman living in Lorton, VA. Hardly "polite company" if you know what I mean. What gives him the RIGHT to tyrannize regular folk for going-on 40 years?

Putin seems to be going down the same road that Mussolini had paved 100 years ago. Fascism is very popular now with many nations, unfortunately. Putin's far right belligerent authoritarianism and intolerance of dissent should be a warning sign. Putin is so different from Gorbachev, in that Gorbachev was seeking a compromise with the west, while Putin has no intention of doing that. Considering Putin's degree of grandiosity and cruelty, I supect him of being a sociopath. Sociopathy and fascist leadership go hand in hand.

I asked my Latvian neighbor what he thought of Putin and his response was that he thought of Putin as a thug. I agree.

Putin's Russia has a nuclear arsenal, a cyber-hacking team and a sophisticated propaganda apparatus. He is on the attack in one way or another all over the world to undermine and sabotage the world's western liberal democracies. Here in America, he has been successful using his state run propaganda machine to generate conspiracy theories and disinformation that light up right wing media outlets like the Fox News Channel as well as far right congressmen. Trump himself is often a megaphone for Putin's latest lie or the first one to coddle him at International summits like Helsinki.

Looking ahead, would it surprise anyone that if Trump runs again in 24 he'll push the idea that Russian interference in elections and Russian cyber attacks on US infrastructure can all be forestalled because only Donald Trump can assuage Vladimir Putin because of their unique relationship?

Thanks for an excellent article again. In principle Putin, Trump and other authoritarians are basically using the same communication and propaganda strategy and tools to attack liberal democracy as its defenders use to attack them. However, they seem be much more effective, united and disciplined using (and continuously repeating) simple language and slogans . In addition they respond to questions, not by answering but by counter attack and don't shy away from broadcasting falsehoods and lies. Those defending democracy seem to spend more time crying foul than countering the message and often, by repeatedly publishing the story, video's and pictures, seem to assist in the propaganda. We need to become equally simple, ruthless and united in our messaging , and less hysterical when defending democracy........ and lying is not required if you tell the truth...

Excellent article. Putin has allegedly told Trump to in essence fear mass protests and not let them happen. I believe this is projection of Putin’s own fears. I wonder if his grip is loosening;his time on the wane? I also believe our own GQP actually views him as somehow a model for themselves even so? After all, multiple Republicans visited Moscow on a recent July 4th.
