When I stumbled onto your Substack and attended your Zoom meetings I was immediately impressed with your ability to write, and communicate, your research. Safe travels to Sarasota!! I am a Florida resident and feel rather isolated at times amongst the Confederate flags and Trump 2024 signs. I am happy you are conducting a session with our Gulf coast residents.
My sense is that nationwide, yesterday's voting results gave many a cause for celebration. However, we can't take our eyes off the ball. Collective resistance against authoritarianism is a daily activity - no free passes permitted.

Jenna Ellis and Charlie Kirk, all ultra right podcasters. Brian Rosenwald is quoted by The Post's Jeremy Barr, "This is a major mistake for NBC...I think it undermines their journalistic credibility."
Tonight I will be curious to see how NBC will handle the debates with Hugh Hewitt of Salem and NBC's Kristen Welker and Lester Holt as moderators. As a historian, what insights do you, Ruth.
The GOP debaters seem to be attempting a tricky tightrope walk —each hapless candidate wants to position him/herself as the Trumpiest choice — to step in when Trump is (I hope) locked up. Meanwhile, they argue endlessly about how well qualified their anti-democracy party is to supervise shuffleboard on the Titanic.
Today’s photo is absolutely beautiful! It brought back so many wonderful memories of growing up in the Catskills and Berkshire mountains as a youth. Thanks Ruth!

Hal…true and I agree with you, but I believe they are positioning themselves for future govt control and placements Post trump but not MAGA era.
