Most of the billionaire class is stridently behind our neofascist movement, including Spurs and Knicks owners. It's nothing short of a coup d' etat.
WE the People will survive this assault. Polling supports it as well as invisible Indivisible groups organizing against this fascist takeover, no thanks to the misguided, misinformed, and incompetent Democratic Party. Any party beholden to AIPAC is in serious decline.

I am glad that my US city Chicago decided not to hold the games. Cities are losing money that they cannot afford to with Trump stealing our money that was supposed to fund food, healthcare, shelter and education.
It is unsafe for players who are not considered "White" to enter the US and play as well as their fans. Trump is an international war criminal and FIFA is a scandalous organization. I am not even watching the games on the screen. No Fußball for this Fußball fan. I am ignoring friends posting about it. These games are as tainted as Trump's fights on the White House Lawn. I would like to see FIFA end. I don't think it will, but that won't stop me from speaking out.
I started playing soccer at the age of five, the same year as the US World Cup victory over England in ‘the miracle match) made headlines.
Two classmates and I were playing in our suburban Philadelphia school’s large concrete sandbox that fall when a man with a funny accent came and tossed an old brown ball into our midst. One of my classmates picked it up and threw it back “Och no, laddie!” the man remonstrated. “You kick the damned thing”.
Turned he was a Scot, recently hired to teach English and to coach our Varsity team, and he was reaching down to the elementary division to get us thinking about the game.
The three of us together with those added to our team along the way played for the next twelve years, finishing as co-champions in our suburban league. I’m the only one left of that fhreesome, and the least accomplished, and we played a game watched by only few, including the loyal mothers who drove us to games and provided oranges at halftime while the whole school came out for our football playing classmates. But we didn’t mind.
I can’t comment knowledgeably on the political end of the spectrum which is the topic o this essay, but I can attest to the pleasure of a youthful decade playing ‘the beautiful game’ in the US at a time when it was little more than a largely ignored sidelight in the American sport world.
So as I watch the USMNT reach for a higher level than we usually manage, and delight in the mastery of the USWNT, I can still feel my old cleats digging in the clean grass of a cool autumn afternoon, and I know that for all the political business whatever it may be, what really matters is the sheer pleasure of playing the world’s most popular team sport, knowing that there are very good reasons why it is the most popular.
Your article reminded me of the 1936 Olympics where Hitler tried to use the event as a propaganda platform for Aryan supremacy. The Jesse Owens "track wins" upset Hitler.
