Thank you for such an excellent analysis of the "peace summit" today. I still wonder what trump and/or the US get out of meetings like this. It seems like every time trump and putin get together, all the spoils go to putin.
Add to that that putin has trump's number, and trump has no idea who putin really is or how to deal with him. I agree that it was a shameful display, and as always, expensive.
Trump is aligning the US with a failed State. Putin is what Trump wants to be, a man who can control a country after he has robbed in blind so he can continue to rob it blind. That is what Trump is doing to us. He is robbing us blind. Just look at the Big Bad Budget Bill. It has 3 purposes none of them meeting our needs.
Two criminals holding plenty of power meeting together with no oversight. One of them holding the keys to and having most likely already funneled into overseas accounts some of the vast riches accumulated from us the tax paying citizens over decades and decades. What good could that possibly lead to?
When he was Senator, Marco Rubio chaired the Senate Committee that found Russia interfered in the 2016 election on behalf of Trump. With Rubio, we are watching how cowardice and personal ambition corrupt the soul and drain the spirit.
The day the wannabe dictator is out, and that day will come, Rubio will play that old evergreen as load as he possibly can to those few who'll want to listen and to all those who do not want to listen to him.
Here's the title:
"Wir haben es nicht gewußt"
Those who like to read a book or two will understand.
Your last line is great! I agree with your point, which applies to people like Rubio who had a soul connection before they betrayed it with cowardly and dishonest acts. The situation is different for people like Trump, Putin, Netanyahu and the hosts of other psychopaths and narcissists in power in so many places. These people lost their soul connection or were never fully able to make it, and integrate an ego-soul linkage it, because of damage and boundary violations at a very young age. That is what psychologists who are expert in this area of abnormal psychology might say. In other words, there was never an honest whole person to start with—say, at school age—but the character was already corrupted by then.
Sociopaths/psychopaths (ASPD) excel at wearing a mask of normalcy. They go through life, fooling people as to who they really are. But they absolutely have no conscience. I see someone like Marco and think that he didn't suddenly lose his conscience; I think he never had one in the first place. The normalcy mask finally came off.
tRump is a sociopath which means that he was not born without a conscience but stories from his chilhood suggest that his deviance started at a young age. As a young boy, he used to throw rocks at the toddler nextdoor to torment him. That sadistic behavior has followed him into adulthood.
If Putin had met with Trump ANYWHERE but in a US city, Putin could have been arrested under that "still enforceable" arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. Thanks for mentioning the warrant, but it would have been nice to tell the audience what it means. [US is not a signatory to the ICC, so warrant unenforceable here.]
What really disturbs me is that back in the Cold War these sorts of meetings of the principals had a tremendous amount of background work done before they met by the various entities involved in foreign policy--they were planned far in advance so there were no surprises when they met. Now, it's diplomacy by the seat of the pants, and mistakes, errors, misunderstandings are likely if not inevitable...
Back in the Cold War the principals and/or their advisers were capable of understanding the situation, at least from their own political and economic perspectives. Trump isn't up to this, nowhere close, and I don't believe any of his advisers are either. Rubio? Hegseth? ROFL.
Nah! I politely disagree. It was made to look like hap hazardous plans but these negotiations have been in the works for years. If anyone thinks Trump went to Moscow for a beauty pageant only
years ago they probably have a naive view of modern world politics - I mean the dirty kind🙄
Our side was caught flat footed. I watched the “Manchurian Candidate” last night - the remake. It was very creepily close to the a long term plan to seize power in our country by one party through brainwashing and Americans willing to kill other Americans.
Going back to what others have said, some people have no moral compass. They are the dangerous ones. The ones who can’t break through the lies we are being fed. They are the hardcore MAGA. The ones at the top are criminals and just need to be stopped ASAP.
Brilliant analysis. Putin’s problem though, is that Trump is too much of a puppet and a very incompetent one at that. The USA’s decline as a world leader diminishes its influence over those who could undermine Ukraine and help Putin, the NATO countries. It’s highly likely that Putin has the Epstein files (there was a lot of oligarch money flowing in NYC during the Trump Epstein prime time.) So far, though, what has Putin tangibly gained? Russian economy still rapidly declining…its military propped up by North Korea and its future tied to China. The U.S. corporate media loves the show…but it’s wearing thin, and like the Berlin Wall, when the cracks start, the collapse will be rapid.
Well, their goals are not primarily to create strong countries but to enrich and safeguard themselves. Their countries are what they feed on and use for themselves and their families-as-reflections, and as furtherance, of themselves. These types don’t serve their countries or any other form of greater good—a viable natural world, for instance—but are only parasites, blood-sucking parasites, as I see them.
Just woke (yes.... I am woke and proud of it!) and learned that what everybody with a functioning brain knew would happen.
Donald J. Trump (currently playing wannabe dictator president in the States) has written a new chapter in his famous ghost-written book written by himself of course.
"The Art of the Fail"
(Available at Bezos's Amazon thing for $1zillion, shipping costs excluded of course).
It is the chapter in which Putin plays the guy who wanders around on rooftops like a master handler of guinea pigs.
Shameful. I’m sure trump is already grifting off of this so-called “summit” like he did with “commemorative” gold coins after meeting with N Korea’s Kim Jong Un. Wonder what form this grift will take? Russian nesting dolls?
This agrees with everything I have been reading and understand about the situation. Zav Shalev reported that Putin was putting the rumor out there that Russia was going to get Alaska back and Trump would get Greenland so they could split up the Arctic to exploit for resources.
Martin Belderson is an important voice in the discussion on Ukraine. Martin Belderson gives me heart because he makes it clear that if Ukraine can keep getting support it will make the most of it. The EU clearly has to keep stepping up to fill the gap the US is leaving in support. The US is truly losing its first world status. Trump is dealing with Putin as if they both are on equal footing. However Russia is a failed country. That is not a country to be on equal footing with.
Martin Belderson's Substack is called "Ukraine: The Under Reported War."
Russia can be crushed if we just stay the course. Trump is the biggest interference to our doing that with his flirtations with grandeur as he plays the peace maker, something he is anything but. Let us hope Trump's performances with Putin do not fool anyone in Europe. I do not know if we can hope for that in the US. MAGAs have proven that they are vulnerable to disinformation. They should be sent to Scandinavia or the Baltics where people are crystal clear on who Putin is and what Russia is as a country. Bad News!
Yes, I am also following and hoping for Ukraine’s success, as well as learning from Zev Shalev who is one, like Whitney Webb, who has been researching Epstein for years. The follow-the-money story is even bigger and worse in terms of the consequences to all of us, than the sex-trafficking one, which has caused such life-altering harm to individual victims. But all these crimes are of a piece—the callous disregard and use of others for one’s own “highs” and elevation.
Cecelia, I also read Zev and what he has to say in general. His discussion of this meeting was already telling me about Putin putting out that he was going to get Alaska back and when no one picked up the story he got upset and made sure it was on social media. Yet, other than the AP and Ruth, I have not heard it mentioned.
I am really recommending that people follow Martin Belderson because NO ONE ELSE is reporting the Ukraine war with such detail about actions that show that they have it on the ball while Russia does not!
I checked out Martin Belderson and see what you mean. I follow Jake Broe, Silicon Curtain and other knowledgable ones via youtube to get much more of the whole picture. It is very important to me too, to understand what is really going on.
Great chat today Ruth.
All of the signs and signals are fascinating.
Comrade Putin and Comrade Krasnov meeting
His obvious fondness for Putin is glaring.
Thank you for such an excellent analysis of the "peace summit" today. I still wonder what trump and/or the US get out of meetings like this. It seems like every time trump and putin get together, all the spoils go to putin.
Of course, Putin is the winner because Trump never works with a plan! Limited skills and
an ability to achieve! How much did that fiasco cost in monies and reputation of the U.S.?
A shameful display.
Add to that that putin has trump's number, and trump has no idea who putin really is or how to deal with him. I agree that it was a shameful display, and as always, expensive.
According to Spy Talk Substack Trump went into this meeting without Russian and Ukrainian Intelligence, which means Putin leads the narrative.

1) billionaires tax cuts
2) the military budget
3) ICE
IMO, the US has become a failed state under trump. I don't think trump needs any lessons from putin in how to achieve that.
Yes, but Putin is ahead in this goal of robbing the population blind. Trump is catching up fast though. Thank you MAGA for this.
It has taken putin a lot more years than trump to get there.
True. Which is just one of the alarming aspects of Trump's thievery!
Yes, a shameful display.

One of them holding the keys to and having most likely already funneled into overseas accounts some of the vast riches accumulated from us the tax paying citizens over decades and decades. What good could that possibly lead to?
We could be just like them!! (Sarcastic comment.) I think we already are just like them. And any good accrues only to the criminals in power.
Today’s Lucid get together was excellent! Very informative and interesting!
Melissa Chan was exceptional. You always are, my dear!

Yep, sweaty Marko!

Yup, total moral collapse on that one.

We knew Putin owns Trump. Just learned Xi owns Putin. Therefore, Xi owns Trump. Anyone care to dispute...?!

I feel sick. 🤢
Thank you, Ruth, for this necessary shot in the arm!
Always an interesting analysis.
Helpful counterweight to the distorted, dystopian reels rolling from US media “analysts”
Hi, morning here in Belgium.
Just woke (yes.... I am woke and proud of it!) and learned that what everybody with a functioning brain knew would happen.

It’s possible Putin has the Epstein files too.
