Welcome back to Lucid, and hello to all new subscribers! Here is the registration link for today’s Q&A, 1-2pmET. There is also a Q&A on Sunday, May 1, 8-9pmET, for paying subscribers only, with Prof. Brooke Harrington, expert on kleptocracy. She qualified as a wealth manager to learn how the ultra-rich, including oligarchs, hide their money. You’ll get a link to register for that one on Sunday afternoon.
Registration for all Q&As is is free and your information will not be used for any other purpose. These are supportive environments and all are welcome. Ask a question or just listen in.
Every Friday I include a photo. If you have a favorite place, send it to me at contact.ruthbenghiat@gmail.com. Let me know if you want to be anonymous or not.
This one, submitted by a Lucid subscriber, is of a marsh in the middle of Chicago. It reminds us that pockets of serenity are everywhere if we seek them out - and sometimes we find them unexpectedly, by taking time to look up from our screens and take in our surroundings.
Sorry to have missed this evening's meeting. We are used to thinking of Germany as 7 hours ahead of us, but we calculated 7 hours ahead of Chicago and you are in New York, which means we are only 6 hours ahead. Boo hoo. We will catch you on the next Zoom, Ruth. Really sorry to have missed this and hope you are well. Joanna & Marty Denis
You probably have your questions ready for today. If possible, I have a question I posed on
Twitter. He's a hero and inspiration. What confuses me, is that 'Navalny' had a thread (reposted by reputable people) imploring financial support for a media company to combat disinformation. I hope he's able to do that. But, he's twice been poisoned by Putin and sits in a prison for years as a means to shut him up. How is he able to get to communicate outside? Is there a scheme with Putin? I feel awful for asking the question, but it's shocking to me that Navalny is free to message things that will ultimately lead to taking Putin down.
