Excellent article. Putin has allegedly told Trump to in essence fear mass protests and not let them happen. I believe this is projection of Putin’s own fears. I wonder if his grip is loosening;his time on the wane? I also believe our own GQP actually views him as somehow a model for themselves even so? After all, multiple Republicans visited Moscow on a recent July 4th.

Putin seems to be going down the same road that Mussolini had paved 100 years ago. Fascism is very popular now with many nations, unfortunately. Putin's far right belligerent authoritarianism and intolerance of dissent should be a warning sign. Putin is so different from Gorbachev, in that Gorbachev was seeking a compromise with the west, while Putin has no intention of doing that. Considering Putin's degree of grandiosity and cruelty, I supect him of being a sociopath. Sociopathy and fascist leadership go hand in hand.

I asked my Latvian neighbor what he thought of Putin and his response was that he thought of Putin as a thug. I agree.
