I had a great conversation with Joy Reid on MSNBC Thursday evening about the transformation of the Arizona Republican Party from John McCain to...Kari Lake, Paul Gosar, and Mark Finchem. The Arizona GOP rivals the Texas GOP as one of the most extremist state parties in the nation, and its election deniers are particularly tenacious.
We all breathed a sigh of relief when many MAGA acolytes such as Lake and Finchem lost their elections in the 2022 midterms. Yet we will not be rid of them as politicians so easily. Lake took a Trumpian approach to her loss, refusing to concede (she continued to challenge her loss in court for half a year), and is evidently going to run for Senate next year.
