Here in Minnesota one of our democracy champion organizations has developed a framework to build a statewide network of democracy defenders. This is a nonpartisan effort aimed at encouraging everyone, neighbor to neighbor, to participate in their democracy, use their voices, vote. We will be developing this network community by community, person to person. We will help those who need it to get registered, have a plan to vote, help people get to the polls, install poll watchers, have a plan to deal with any ICE involvement. This is about “We the People.” I hope other states are doing the same.
Yes, imo “evil” is the perfect word to describe this farce. Its base is derived from the theological which means splitting apart( truth vs untruth etc.) Split apart your opposition and they lose their stronghold of power to dictate their will against the ppl. Resistance and resilience are the keys to not letting this happen. Stay together and be strong!

As was expected the heavy handed Federalist Society laden SCOTUS has now completely eroded the VRA in yesterday's ruling in Louisiana v Callais delegitimizing Section 2(https://bit.ly/4t1r7Lx) The conservative Court has been hard at work to get rid of the last of the VRA for the last 20+ years and they finally accomplished what chief justice Roberts(when appointed in 2005 he made VRA a target) has called “unnecessary” rights of minority groups since the country has moved far beyond where it was in the 1960’s In essence the court has leaned on the idea that racism no longer exists, giving it the excuse to get rid of voting rights protections in red heavy states
Now that the Court has ruled so this puts in play many red states legislatures to gerrymander the heck out of their already gerrymandered maps to increase the numbers of CNPP(Christian Nationalist Ped Party) reps in these states As the has said over the decades the VRA gave unfair advantage to the Democrats and now that the VRA has been dismissed, it’s time for the Nazi Republicans to make hay
This is even more reason for heavy voter turnout for the midterms to show the CNPP that immorality, lying, and fraud are not what WE the People want our government to be about In her dissent, Kagan said that under the court’s decision, “a State can, without legal consequence, systematically dilute minority citizens’ voting power” It’s time for SCOTUS reform to dilute the power of the court and make it more reflective of the American people’s opinion as racism is NOT dead in America and WE the People deserve righteous representation not partisan gerrymandering Show Up To VOTE

I think we should POPULARIZE and CELEBRATE voting like we do for other holidays. Lets embrace the idea of 'CELEBRATION'. Have 'voting parties, go as groups to vote. Lets change the narrative. Have 'contests' to see which city can get the most voters out. We need to 'rethink' this!
There are several postcard-writing organizations that provide information, scripts, names and addresses of people who need encouragement to vote. All I do is write and address the cards and pay for the stamps—a small contribution to support democracy. There’s likely one of these groups near you...

Canadian here who is appalled by the six judges to gut the Voter's Rights Act. All of us outside the US 'have skin in the game' when the elections will be so skewed to the Republicans who are now totally in thrall of Trump and controlled by billionaires and the Heritage Foundations' devious plans.

Your article gives me hope that We the People can move past this aweful moment and create a fair and prosperous future for all of us, albeit it will take a lot of hard work, determination, and persistance.
