I just got back from my local No Kings protest. We're in a small town in the heart of MAGA country in Florida. It was good for my heart to be with many passionate great Americans. This is the way to reduce the stress of powerlessness. Solidarity Now.

Thank you Ruth. This Trump administration (and the GOP in general) plays by a different set of rules than the left-wingers do. There’s is no “bottom” as to how low the right will go. I believe that even the recent LA protest, - and others yet to come, Trump and his lackeys will infiltrate “our” demonstrations with “their” people (i.e. proud boys) who will stir up trouble purposely, just so Trump can continue his tirades, take aggressive actions against innocent protesters and intimidate us into submission. We must be overly cautious and organized as we continue to rally, protest and march. There have been so many protests and marches already, ALL WITHOUT INCIDENT. The very COVERAGE of these protests will be skewed as well, and dominated with lies, like Governor Newsome had to expose. Our work is very much cut-out for us.
We MUST find a way to help people navigate through the labyrinth of lies to be able to distinguish: WHAT IS THE TRUTH. Many good people are truly confused and don’t know what to believe. They see the loops of film of pockets of violence in LA and presume this is everywhere…they see a tiny bit of Pedilla trying to get heard and so believe that he “lunged” at Noem.
We should have billboards all over this country directing people on how to know the truth. Countering EVERY lie with evidence so they start to understand who the liars are and how they’re being manipulated.
We can put signs on the roofs of our own houses declaring that the real war being waged by this regime is and has always been a war against truth. That the people are being used, manipulated, duped for the benefit of the few.
He always lies but there are messages in what is said - paid protesters. The Peaceful Resistance I’m pretty sure is NOT getting paid so WHO IS? Could it be actively directly plants of this admin to stir up violent acts that are used to “justify” /excuse to bring in the military and guns?
Why do you think anyone's getting paid to protest? Because Trump said so? You know how Trump (or his campaign, or his entourage) have paid actors to inflate the crowd at rallies and events from time to time? Maybe he's accusing others of doing what he himself has done.
Yes, it’s possible that MAGA-affiliated groups pay people to infiltrate pro-democracy protests. But that possibility is not a useful thing to focus on, other than for those of us who are committed to peacefully protesting against authoritarian tactics that degrade the rule of law and infringe on people’s rights to be aware of the possibility so they can resist that, too.
Protested today at Cocoa, Florida. Deep in the maga heart of Brevard County and Sheriff Ivey. A peaceful gathering of over 3,000 people. Lots of support from the passing traffic and plenty of heckling from the magas.
Great turnout for am rally/ protest organized y Indivisible & NC Poor People’s Campaign in Asheville. Awesome signs; food collected for people still dealing with Hurricane Helene (big issue for us in WNC); postcard writing table- with a LOT of people coming by. Many of the folks I spoke with are already making phone calls, etc. Community Building
I just returned from my local No Kings march in St Louis County. There were thousands there, much larger turnout than Hands Off protest, and it was great. We were on the side of a busy road and the vast majority of cars were honking, people were waving, some waved US flags and some even had their own signs.
I am back from a No Kings Rally in Chicago's city center. We met at Daily Plaza which is by Courts building, and the Picasso statute called The Woman. The friends I was with split up. Some of us went into the crowd, some stayed on the sidewalk. I wanted to understand what was going on. I did see police at 3 points. One when we were walking from the train together to Daily plaza, they were about 2 blocks away from the rally meet up point. We could not hear the speeches, but could hear speakers and then the roar of the crowd in enthusiasm.
Once we started marching we went to Trump Tower where I saw a line of police blocking the entry way, but other than a big long bo-o-o-o-o-o, when we went by there was no other animosity expressed. We then turned the corner onto Michigan Avenue and went down it. At some point we left and got back onto the Metra trains. I was with friends and ran into many people I have not seen in years, but probably at a rally. My voice is a little tired as is my body, but it was a good crowd, and I felt safe with these people. I felt safe with our police which surprised me. A Latina cop with her bike to help control traffic on the side of Michigan Avenue that had cars was the last cop I saw during the parade.
Trump said he would send National Guard to Chicago, and I was curious to see if he would. First of all he has Newsom's suit which will be dealt with on Tuesday, and secondly where is he getting all of these NGs? It seems like there is not the money for this in their budget.
The Chicago police handled it all fine, and there were a lot of activities in the city today. There was the Thai Festival, The Puerto Rican Festival, The Pope speaking at the White Sox Park. a book fair, an art fair, and other earlier and later events as well. We were well behaved. A win-win situation.
Your voice changed today, Robert Reich's voice changed today, Robert Hubbell's voice changed today, Amy Klobashar's voice changed today; it was the tone! I've waited a long time for the tone of those voices to change. I'm 78 and attended the NO KINGS rally in Ft Worth, Texas today. There are a lot more blue hearts in Texas than you might think. It was a beautiful exposé, peaceful and with purpose. Those changed voices today, changed tone, turned words that had been said before into poetry. Poetry is a gift that turns words into something that goes beyond words. The Greeks called it a visitation by the muse, something separate from the individual. Seen in sports, it would be called "in the zone." A modern-day psychologist would say it came from the unconscious. Whatever, it was a language that held a subtle energy and truth, a voice America needs to hear more of at this time in our history. Thank You!
You're onto something. It feels a bit like we have the stupidity of it all on the ropes. Millions protesting in the streets all across the country in the largest protest in history while the pathetic lackluster parade of old worn out armaments felt like a funeral procession. Perhaps this day will be seen as the beginning of the end.
I was In Morrisville NC this morning. Block after block, people stood in groups with signs on corners. It was amazing. Then those protesters moved to larger events in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Cary and Durham. There is NO PLACE like the Durham community! Thousands and thousands of people showed up! The energy, positivity, kindness, patriotism and all things good joined together. It was PEACEFUL! There are way more Americans on the Pro-Democracy side. In MORRISVILLE, with heavy traffic there was constant honking of passersby in solidarity for the No Kings event. 2 passersby gave the finger 🤷🏼♀️. A young man, 20 y/o pulled his motorcycle into a gas station behind us. He was curious and shared that he was part of a Harley group in the region. He said he would bring his friends of what he indicated was an 800 strong ‘club’. Friends- THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE!
I just went to the protest in Porto Portugal. A big crowd of expats, tourists from America and elsewhere. A Portuguese speaker warned that far right and tech billionaire types were trying to do to all of Europe as they are in US. Save democracy now. No Kings
I attended a massive #NoKings protest at Palisades Park in Santa Monica today — holding up my sign: MAKE ORWELL FICTION AGAIN. Peaceful crowds & our wonderful SoCal diversity was very much in evidence!

I loved being around "many passionate great Americans". (could not have said it better myself)
You are a great American, Jeanne Stevens. Have great weekend.
Thanks Steve. And I wish you the same.
I’m at one of the thousands of No Kings protests! I’m in West Palm Beach!

Excellent Ruth. Thank
you on this important
day.
Decentralized resistance is a solid strategy. It will make the control freaks on the right's heads explode.🤯🤯
